YS Badminton is proud to congratulate our student and player, Charlotte Pann, who recently represented Australia at the inaugural BWF AirBadminton World Cup. The event was held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, from 11–14 December 2025. Importantly, it marked the first-ever World Cup in the exciting new outdoor discipline of AirBadminton.
Launched by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), AirBadminton is an innovative outdoor version of the sport. It was designed to broaden participation and bring badminton into parks, beaches and public spaces. In addition, the game uses a specially engineered AirShuttle. Matches can be played on sand, grass or hard surfaces. As a result, AirBadminton expands the sport beyond traditional indoor venues and supports global growth.
At the World Cup, Charlotte competed against some of the world’s leading AirBadminton nations. In both triples and team relay formats, Australia faced strong opposition. Specifically, matches were played against Hong Kong, China, Indonesia and Germany. Each nation fielded experienced squads with proven international success.
Despite the challenging draw, Charlotte competed with heart and determination. Throughout the tournament, she represented Australia with pride. At the same time, she showcased the values and spirit of YS Badminton on the world stage.
The launch of the AirBadminton World Cup represents a major milestone for the sport. Overall, the event brought together teams from 12 countries across five continents. Moreover, the competition format tested teamwork, adaptability and strategy. This structure is unique to AirBadminton and highlights its dynamic nature.
YS Badminton — Building Champions at Every Level
Charlotte’s experience in Sharjah reflects her dedication and commitment. It also highlights the high-performance environment developed at YS Badminton. From grassroots training in Brisbane to representing Australia internationally, her journey is inspiring.
Finally, the entire YS Badminton community congratulates Charlotte and the Australian AirBadminton team. Their effort and sportsmanship were outstanding. Looking ahead, we are excited to see the continued growth of AirBadminton and the role our players will play in its future.
