Many players in the Brisbane badminton community know Eugene as a familiar face on court. At YS Badminton, we’re proud to have him as one of our Head Coaches.
As one of our most active coaches, Eugene plays a key role in developing players across our junior and adult programs, while also coaching numerous private students each week. Through his patient coaching style, attention to detail, and ability to break down the game, he has helped many students build confidence, refine their technique, and progress to higher levels of competition.
Known for his court movement, tactical awareness, and all-round game, Eugene continues to compete while bringing those experiences back into every coaching session. His versatility across Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles allows him to provide practical insights that help players develop a complete understanding of the game.
Competing at a High Level
While coaching remains a major part of Eugene’s role at YS Badminton, he continues to challenge himself through competition.
His recent achievements include winning the 2026 City of Brisbane Open Men’s Doubles title, along with claiming the 2025 Autumn Open A Grade Triple Championship across Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. These accomplishments reflect not only his versatility as a player, but also his commitment to continuous improvement.

Whether working with beginners taking their first steps onto the court or experienced players preparing for competition, Eugene is passionate about helping every student become a smarter and more confident player.
His coaching focuses on developing strong fundamentals, improving court movement, refining shot quality, and building the tactical awareness needed to perform consistently in matches.
