YS Badminton is incredibly proud of our student Joanne, who recently competed at the YONEX Australian Para International, held in Bendigo. Joanne showed great spirit and determination, competing in the Women’s Singles (SH6) and Doubles (SH6) events.
Having trained with us since Term 2 in our Adult Group Training, Joanne has demonstrated remarkable dedication and steady improvement. Her commitment to training and love for badminton have taken her all the way to the national stage, where she competed alongside many of Australia’s top para-badminton athletes.
“It was a great experience to apply my training to para matches,” Joanne shared. “I could compare my skills and techniques with other players in my classification and see things I could focus on in training.”
Seeing Joanne step onto the court and give her all is a proud moment for everyone at YS Badminton. Her journey is a true reminder that with determination, consistency, and passion, anything is possible.
About Para-Badminton and SH6
Para-badminton includes different sport classes so that athletes can compete on a fair and even playing field.
The SH6 class is one of these categories, designed for players of short stature. These athletes display exceptional speed, skill, and court awareness — proving that great badminton comes in all forms.
Joanne’s participation in the SH6 singles and doubles events is a testament to her commitment and competitive spirit, and we couldn’t be prouder of her achievements.
Congratulations, Joanne!
We are all cheering for you and excited to see what comes next in your badminton journey!
