YS Badminton is proud to congratulate our coaches, students and competition team members on an outstanding weekend at the 2026 Queensland Open Championships.
As Queensland’s premier Gold tournament, the Queensland Open is the highest-level event on the QBA tournament calendar. The tournament attracted many of the state’s strongest players, along with competitors from New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, making for a highly competitive weekend of badminton.
We are incredibly proud of everyone who represented YS Badminton, with our players achieving podium finishes across every A Grade event entered.

The weekend was a fantastic reflection of the depth across YS Badminton. From our coaching team and competition team to our group training and private training students, it was rewarding to see players of all levels competing with confidence, determination and sportsmanship.
A special congratulations goes to our Level 3 Junior Group Training students, sisters Sarah and Charlotte, who once again met in the C Grade Women’s Singles final. After reversing last month’s result, Sarah claimed the title this time, with Charlotte finishing runner-up. Their continued improvement is a testament to the dedication and consistency they have shown throughout their training.
Congratulations also to Michelle, one of our Level 3 Adult Group Training students, who achieved a runner-up finish in the 35 Masters C Grade Mixed Doubles event. After training consistently in our Level 3 program over the past year, this marked Michelle’s first QBA tournament and a fantastic achievement to begin her competition journey.
Whether coach, competition team member or student, we are incredibly proud of every YS Badminton player who stepped onto court and represented the club with pride. Performances like these are built through quality coaching, purposeful training and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Finally, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to another great tournament. Thank you to our coaches, competition team, students, partners and supporters for your commitment throughout the weekend. We also thank our sponsors for their ongoing support, our fellow competitors for another weekend of outstanding badminton, and QBA for delivering another fantastic event.
Congratulations once again to all of our players on an exceptional Queensland Open Championships. We look forward to seeing everyone back on court as we continue striving for the next challenge together.
