AJ Represents Queensland at Australian National Championships

YS Badminton is incredibly proud to congratulate Coach AJ on representing Queensland at the 2026 National Team Championships — the prestigious Ede Clendinnen Shield. Competing against the best players from across Australia, AJ played a key role in helping Team Queensland secure a Bronze Medal after an impressive tournament campaign filled with resilience, determination, and team spirit.

Queensland opened the tournament strongly with a 6–2 victory over Western Australia before facing a tough New South Wales side, going down 2–6 in the second group match. Throughout the team event, AJ stepped up across multiple disciplines, competing in Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Men’s Singles to help Queensland secure a place in the semi-finals.

Unfortunately, due to a technical issue outside of the players’ control, Queensland were unable to compete in the semi-final match. Despite the disappointment, the team showed incredible professionalism and resilience by bouncing back strongly in the Bronze Medal playoff. Queensland defeated South Australia 5–1 to proudly secure the Bronze Medal for the tournament. This tournament also marked AJ’s first time competing at the national level in Australia — an incredible milestone in his badminton journey.

Having grown up in the Philippines predominantly as a singles player, AJ has worked tirelessly to develop his doubles and mixed doubles game since moving to Australia. His progress and adaptability on court have been outstanding, and we are extremely proud of how far he has come as both a player and coach.

Following the team event, AJ also competed at the National Individual Championships, where he partnered with Asaka in Mixed Doubles. The pair fought hard and advanced to the Round of 32 against a strong national field.

At YS Badminton, we are proud not only of AJ’s achievements as a player, but also of the passion, dedication, and leadership he brings as a coach to our badminton community every week. His commitment to continuous improvement and helping others grow continues to inspire players of all ages and levels at YS Badminton.

If you would like to train with Coach AJ, private coaching sessions are available for:

  • 1-on-1 training
  • Small private group sessions (up to 4 players)
